(Pavement maintenance for existing asphalt)

The System and its Benefits

The M.A.Q.S. Surfacing SystemTM causes little inconvenience to traffic compared to other available surface treatment technologies today. This system only requires about 20 minutes, after application on a warm sunny day, to withstand crossing traffic. A surface is typically open to traffic in less than one hour. Installation of this material can even be accomplished at night

The material is applied 1/4"-3/8" thick for a single reseal, eliminating any need for milling of existing pavement. This minimal thickness also reduces the build up of surface height over time, minimizing road edge drop-off hazards and the potential legal liability associated with them. As with any thin lift application, this product will not provide significant structure or mend full depth cracks. Its purpose is to protect pavement from further damage for an extended period of time. An active crack filling program should accompany this system to maximize its benefits.

The M.A.Q.S. material can also be applied several inches thick for rehabilitation projects, or for treatment of rutted areas in existing asphalt. Rutting occurs when summertime pavement temperatures reach 115°F-120°F. Asphalt will soften at that point, and begin to move and rut under traffic. This problem can be corrected using the M.A.Q.S. material since its softening point approaches 140°F.
